Atkinson, Curran teach
TF Managed Risk at U. of Maryland

Two key members of Thilman Filippini's Seniors Housing Division have been invited to lead courses in principles of TF Managed Risk this fall at the Erickson School of Aging Studies at the University of Maryland BC, an honors university in Baltimore County.

John Atkinson is a Partner of Thilman Filippini and directs the Seniors Housing group. He serves on a number of industry boards, such as the American Seniors Housing Association for whom he is the lead-researcher and author of ASHA's annual Liability Insurance report. John also serves on the President's Council of the Assisted Living Federation of America. He holds a degree in political science, with honors, from Benedictine University.

Mary Lynn Curran is a registered nurse, former senior consultant for AIG and now the director of Clinical Risk Management for Thilman Filippini. She is the author of numerous articles for industry publications and textbooks such as the Risk Management Handbook for Healthcare. Mary Lynn holds a master's in healthcare administration from the University of St. Francis.

The Erickson School of Aging Studies at UMBC provides professional education, research and policy consulting on aging services and senior care. Erickson's Executive Development Program works in partnership with the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industries, a nonprofit financial data-tracking and benchmarking organization.

UMBC is one of few American universities offering a Ph. D in Gerontology.
