HRH Seniors Housing Specialists Appointed to
UMBC Faculty

CHICAGO—June 22, 2007—Hilb Rogal & Hobbs Company (NYSE: HRH), Chicago's fourth largest insurance broker and the world's 10th largest insurance and risk management intermediary, is proud to announce that Executive Vice President, Managing Director John Atkinson and Vice President, Clinical Risk Management Mary Lynn Curran have been appointed to serve on the faculty of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County's (UMBC) Erickson School of Aging Studies.

This month, for the second year, Atkinson and Curran participated in The Erickson School's Executive Education Program, located on the campus of UMBC. As instructors during the four-day intensive risk management course, Understanding and Managing the Risks in Seniors Housing and Care, Atkinson and Curran presented current case studies and strategies to 25 attendees, providing them with real-world experiences and strategies that can have an important impact on improving quality, resident care and net operating income. The June course is one of several that the Executive Education Program offers to provide executives and experienced industry professionals with practical advice and knowledge from nationally recognized leaders in the seniors housing and care field.

The Dean of Erickson School Kevin Eckert, commented, "We were thrilled that Mary Lynn Curran and John Atkinson could join the faculty of Understanding and Managing the Risks of Seniors Housing & Care. This Erickson School course provides an in-depth examination of seniors housing and care operations risks and best management practices. Mary Lynn shared the structure of a best-in-class risk management program based on her years of experience in liability environments. John talked about the role of insurance in minimizing risk in seniors housing and care including, as one senior housing executive noted, 'Everything I need to know that my insurance broker doesn't want to talk about.' " Eckert continued, "Mary Lynn's and John's willingness to share their wealth of expertise and knowledge makes them an asset not only to the Erickson School itself, but also to seniors housing and care executives who participate in our executive education programs from across the globe."

As specialists in seniors housing risk management, Atkinson and Curran are committed to the industry, dedicating a significant amount of time and resources to developing best practices and expanding the body of knowledge in the risk management arena. In addition to delivering client solutions, both co-author ASHA's annual Liability Report, and are contributing authors of numerous risk management-related articles and frequent guest speakers. They also host an educational forum for clinical leaders in Chicago each Fall. Further, Atkinson serves on the advisory board of ASHA, the President's Council of the Assisted Living Federation of America and is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. Curran serves on the executive board of the Chicago Healthcare Risk Management Society and various committees of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
